Multimode Fiber Optic Switch
In 1999 Piezosystem Jena introduced a new Multimode fiber optic switch that revolutionized the industry for the multiplexing of optical signals and has since expanded its line to a variety of fiber switches for different types of fibers and a different number of channels.
The piezo electric driven Multimode fiber optic switch is designed for fast switching in the millisecond range and available for fiber core diameters ranging from 50 µm up to 600 µm. Piezo electric actuators enable the fiber optic switch to couple optical fibers with an accuracy of few microns and this new technology no longer requires any optical components inside.
Standard configurations of Multimode fiber optic switches range from1 by 1 to 1 by 9 channels, with standard fiber diameters are 50, 100, 200, 400 and 600 microns. Piezosystem Jena can guarantee a very high accuracy in the positioning of these optical fibers, by utilizing piezoelectric technology.
As an added advantage, the small size of our Multimode fiber optic switch and ease of use makes our switch ideally suited for use with components such as spectrometers and other metrology devices.
