PZT Piezoelectric Actuator

Piezosystem Jena is one of the world’s leading companies in PZT piezoelectric actuator technology.

Positioning equipment that utilizes the piezoelectric effect of PZT-based ceramic elements can achieve nanopositioning with practically unlimited resolution. Analog signals sent from a controller apply an electric field of a certain voltage to the ceramic, which in turn results in a change in length to the piezo elements.

Piezosystem Jena utilizes this effect to design positioning equipment with exceptionally high resolution. In order to increase the motion up to the mm range, Piezosystem Jena employs a sophisticated hinge flexure design.

Our unique piezo-based nanopositioning stages and piezo actuators guarantee the highest resolution in the sub-nm range, even when the total travel range is in the mm range. As part of our process, we use FEA tools to develop positioning elements with extremely high stiffness, which enables our PZT piezoelectric actuator and positioning stages to work at high speeds, as well as under high pressure.

Due to the protective flexible multilayer ceramic insulation, we guarantee long life for all of our actuators.
